Characteristic and early cabinet from the ‘Zuidelijke Nederlanden’, or Katholic Netherlands.

The cultural area where this cupboard was made covers from Hainaut, Flanders or both Belgian and Dutch Brabant and Limburg.

 

A rare and early piece of furniture - first half of the 17th century. (1600 - 1650)

Beautiful quartersawn oak, thanks to the special sawing method you can see the 'mirrors' of the oak in the grain.

Early 'short' forged hinges.

Style icon for this area where the flannel trade brought great wealth.

The original wrought iron locks are still there - with key.

Completely original and in beautiful condition - more than 400 years old.
