Origin: purchased at auction in Manassas, Virginia (USA) on October 1, 1966.
Once part of the interior of The Farley House, which was built in 1792 and listed as the headquarters for Major General John Sedgwick during the American Civil War. (September 13, 1813 – May 9, 1864)
Given the age of the table it is possible that John Sedgwick used this.
He was fatally shot by a sniper when he said: 'They can't hit an elephant from this distance.'
